Stillkept help
Getting started
- Tap Measure my library and choose Allow Full Access.
- On Overview, tap Set your iCloud plan. Type your plan and usage, or read them from a screenshot of Settings > your name > iCloud.
- In Back up, add a Google account or a USB-C drive, choose which photos, and tap Start backup.
- When you're ready, tap Free up space to delete photos that are safely backed up.
Clean up
The Clean up tab finds photos you may not need: near-identical shots (Stillkept suggests the best one to keep) and old screenshots. With Stillkept Pro, Shrink big videos saves a smaller copy that looks the same. Everything you delete goes to Recently Deleted for 30 days.
Why does Stillkept need full photo access?
To measure the whole library and copy the items you choose. With limited access it can only see the photos you picked.
How do I know my backup is safe?
For Google Drive, Stillkept compares the SHA-256 checksum Google reports with the checksum of the original. For a drive, it reads the copy back and compares checksums. Only verified items can be deleted.
Why are some items kept?
Each kept item shows its reason, for example "Edited or changed after it was archived" or "Needs verified copies on two different destinations while iCloud is full". Archive it again, or answer the iCloud question, to make it eligible.
When do I get my space back?
Deleted items stay in Photos' Recently Deleted for 30 days. Empty Recently Deleted to free space on your iPhone sooner. iCloud space is freed when items are deleted. If your iCloud storage is full, iOS removes deleted items immediately.
Restoring
In Restore, tap the photos you want and tap Restore. Leave Bring back my edits on to get photos the way you last saw them, or turn it off for the camera originals. To restore from a USB drive, tap Get photos back from a USB drive and pick the folder that contains "Stillkept Archive".
My Google account says "Needs reconnecting"
Google connections expire after a long time unused or when access is revoked. Remove the account and add it again. Your archive files are not affected.
Keep your archive account active
Google may delete personal accounts unused for two years. Open the account you archive to at least once a year.
Unable to Upload
If Photos can't upload some items to iCloud, Stillkept lists them on Overview. Archive them first, then follow Apple's steps shown in the app.
